    Yes. Hand-watering with a hose and microirrigation (drip) systems are exempt from the day-of-week restrictions but still must not run between 10am and 4pm.

    How much is the fine for watering on the wrong day in Miami?

    First offense typically results in a warning. Second offense: $100–$250. Third and beyond: $250–$500 per violation, escalating up to $1,000 and possible water service interruption in extreme cases.

    Do I need a rain sensor on my irrigation system?

    Yes. Florida law requires automatic irrigation systems connected to potable water to have a functioning rain shut-off sensor. Miami-Dade enforces this requirement and it can be cited during inspections.

    What time should I set my sprinklers to run?

    Early morning — 5am to 8am — is ideal. Pressure is highest, temperature is lowest, and wind is lightest. Avoid watering after dark as wet overnight foliage promotes fungal disease in South Florida's humidity.
